Day

Day
~George William Russell~

In day from some titanic past it seems
As if a thread divine of memory runs;
Born ere the Mighty One began his dreams,
Or yet were stars and suns.
But here an iron will has fixed the bars;
Forgetfulness falls on earth's myriad races:
No image of the proud morning morning stars
Looks at us from their faces.
Yet yearning still to reach to those dim heights,
Each dream remembered is a burning-glass,
Where through to darkness from the Light of Lights
Its rays in splendour pass.

  3. Awesome poem. The picture reminds me of a place in the White Mountains, AZ, where we used to camp. It was breathtaking too.

  4. Hi Artsings

    Thank you for the compliment. George William Russell(aka: AE) is one of my favorite mystics, along with his friends W.Y. Evans-Wentz, William Butler Yeats and William Sharp/Fiona MacLeod.

  12. Vivienne, that photo is breath-taking! The poem you chose matches it perfectly.

    I liked your idea (over on my blog) about lighting a candle to get some snow or rain. It rained very lightly here last night and today...very, very lightly and no snow, but some is better than none! How'd it work for you?

    Blessings,

    Victoria

    Thank you. The candle worked. We got a little bit of snow. Not as much as I would like. We need more snow!

  17. Hope you're doing okay? Haven't heard from you for a while and I know you mentioned you've been a bit down. I was thinking about you because I just saw an Urban Decay Lip Gloss with a little lumberjack man in the cap on Autumnforest's blog. It's like it was created just for you! ;) Look after yourself!
